BIOS-Update,
 
die Aktualisierung der Einstellungen im BIOS, auch die Bezeichnung für eine neue Version des BIOS. Die Aktualisierung ist angebracht, wenn der Computer modifiziert oder nachgerüstet wird. Sie erfolgt über Programme, die unter dem Namen BIOS-Update auf Diskette oder im Internet auf der Seite des jeweiligen BIOS-Herstellers erhältlich sind.
 
 TIPP:
 
Ein BIOS-Update verläuft heute meist ohne Probleme, wenn die korrekte Version der Systemplatine und des bisherigen BIOS zugrunde gelegt wird und das Flash-Programm die richtigen Vorgaben (Name und Pfad für das neue BIOS) bekommen hat. Trotzdem bleiben Risiken bestehen. Tritt z. B. eine Störung während des Schreibvorgangs auf, muss in der Regel ein neuer BIOS-Chip besorgt und eingebaut werden.
